Yes, yes, I haven't written in this for quite a while!
As you may or may have not known, my GRE was on November 5th. Hence my lack of writing entries lately...I'm free from the madness!
I have not received my essay scores yet, but I got the Verbal and Quantitative the same day. While I won't reveal my scores, I will say that I scored average on the Verbal and 100 points higher than the average on the Quantitative. This, of course, was to my extreme surprise.
I'm still perturbed about the Verbal section. Even though I didn't expect 90% of the words I studied to show up, I also didn't expect crazy ass one off words that I could barely conjecture.
Further, the analogy part where they have 2 words that are conceptually linked and you have to identify a pair of words with a similar conceptual link was B.S. I could've argued any of the analogies so it was bull that they were looking for one answer. It's funny because they have security cameras on each desk and I think everytime I made a massively confused facial expression, some dude would come in the room and walk behind me to check on me. Jerk.
Something else I didn't anticipate was being forced to put my belongings in locker and pull my pockets inside out. I couldn't even bring my bottled water in during the 3 hour test. Parched.
A temporary weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I'm anxious to get my essay scores and hope I did well enough to officially work on my Grad School application. I've already got two recommendation letters and need two more. It's a lot of work but exciting, I'm ready for some life changes...
I don't understand why they put ridiculous words on the GRE if majority of the people who take them will likely not use them in their careers. Again, GRE is the epitome of the phrase "B.S."
ReplyDeleteGlad you got it finished though. Hope the essay score comes out good.
